Soaring Close to the Sun: The Wisdom of Patience and the Art of Trusting the Process

As I have gotten older, I’m more aware of the unforgiving hands of time. Time stands still for no one, no matter how much you beg, it continues to seep through the hourglass. I’m aware of the things I have yet to realize, the places I have yet to see. Yet, in our haste to reach the next destination, we often miss the richness of the moments themselves, we forget what it took to get “here”. How long it took us to get from “there”. It is in this rush to simply make life happen on our watch, that we sometimes fly too close to the sun, risking either a fall into oblivion or a revelation of our own extraordinary capabilities. It is in this paradox that we discover the profound truth that what takes time is respected by time.

In the realm of Greek mythology, the tale of Icarus serves as a poignant reminder of the consequences of flying too close to the sun. Daedalus, a brilliant craftsman, and his son Icarus were imprisoned on the island of Crete. To escape, Daedalus constructed wings made of feathers and wax. He cautioned Icarus not to fly too high, as the sun’s scorching heat could melt the wax, nor too low, as the sea’s moisture could dampen the feathers. However, intoxicated by the sensation of flight, Icarus soared higher and higher, his enthusiasm overriding his father’s wisdom. As the wax melted, he…
