I enjoy wandering graveyards. I do. It’s fascinating to observing the names of people, the years of their life, do the grave stones look like they’re visited often? Have you ever stopped to wonder about the graveyard we all carry within each one of us? The missed opportunities for genuine connection that surround us every day? The countless moments when we inadvertently create a fake experience by suppressing our emotions and burying them deep within our hearts. It’s a phenomenon that has plagued many of us for years, often without us even realizing it. But today, I invite you to bring your shovel, let’s dig deep and unearth the emotions we’ve hidden away, and understand the profound impact this has on our lives, relationships, and our very bodies.

As children, we start our journey through life with hearts wide open, ready to embrace every emotion that comes our way. Joy, sadness, anger, and love flow through us like a river, unfiltered and unburdened. But as we grow, we begin to learn that not all emotions are welcome. Whether our parents, our culture or our experiences — we learn to suppress our tears, to hide our anger, and to put on a brave face even when we’re hurting inside.

Have you ever stopped to consider how the act of burying our emotions can be a learned behavior…
